Lockheed
SR-71A Blackbird

Details

Minicraft

The seat was molded in black, with very little detail. The headrest was the only part shaped correctly. I added masking tape strips and wire for the harnesses.
With a little paint they pass as the Lockheed SR-1 (later F-1) ejection seats they're supposed to be.
The kit had one of it's nosewheel landing lights but I had to built the other light and steering actuator out of my scrap box.
I made the brakeruns for the main undercarriage out of wire.
The Habu's tires are made of aluminum- impregnated-rubber in order to withstand the tremendous heat inside the gear bays during flight at mach 3+.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how my photos are taken. The tarmac is a piece of ply-board that sits on top of a trashcan in my driveway. When I point the camera out towards the wheat field behind my house...MAGIC! (actually I just wanted to work my truck in the picture).
